Khichdi is an ancient Ayurvedic recipe which has been part of diet since ages. It is easy to digest A lot of people amongst you must have made faces after hearing the word khichdi. Moong Dal Khichdi is a complete meal in itself. For those unaware, khichdi is a complete meal made with rice and lentils which are pressure cooked together and in India it's synonyms with illness.

Instructions to make Khichdi:
  1. Wash rice, moong and chana dal separately 2-3 times and drain the water. Soak for 15 minutes.
  2. Grate tomato and make a puree. Grate ginger. Drain excess water from chana dal.
  3. Heat cooking oil in a pressure cooker add cumin seeds and when cumin seeds splutter sauté cloves and cinnamon stick for 30 seconds.
  4. Now put grated tomato and ginger and sate for 1 minute.
  5. Now add soaked chana dal and saute for 1 minute. Stir thoroughly
  6. Add rice and moong Daal and stir.
  7. Add 2 bowls of water and cover the lid and pressure cook till three whistles. Switch off the flame. Let pressure releases automatically.
  8. Serve hot with pickle.
