  1. Get &1/2 kg minced beef
  2. Take tomatoes blended
  3. Get Onion finely diced

  9. Get Herb spices (oregano, basil and parsley)

While the meatballs are baking, I quickly cook the sauce on the stovetop. Cover the meatballs and refrigerate until required. Heat the oil in a stainless steel saucepan. Add the sliced onion and the crushed garlic, toss until coated.

Steps to make Meatballs in tomato sauce:
  1. In a large bowl put the meat and add onions, dhania, egg, breadcrumbs, ginger and garlic, salt, the meat spices and the herb spices. Mix until well combined.
  2. It should look like this but make sure the onions and dhania are finely chopped. My onions came out big..but it's ok😭
  3. Use a tablespoon to scoop and make medium round balls.
  4. Heat some oil in a skillet and shallow fry the balls till they turn brown all round. Ensure they are well cooked inside.
  5. It's now time to make the tomato sauce. Fry onions, garlic ginger paste till brown. Add the tomatoes, tomatoes paste, salt and any meat spice of your choice. Add hot water (The consistency should be to your liking) Cover and let it cook.
  6. Put the meatballs in the sauce. Mix well and let it simmer for a few minutes. Serve hot with spaghetti, chapati, rice or ugali.
  7. If you wish to eat them plain as a snack, you can skip making the sauce.

Fry until brown all over, being careful not to break them up. Turn the heat down and cover with the Basic tomato sauce, pick the basil leaves and tear in fresh basil, tear over the mozzarella and finely grate over the Parmesan. This is a recipe I got from my mother years ago – it's great. Homemade meatballs are simmered in a deliciously rich tomato sauce. Add baked meatballs, tomato pure (clean the can/bottle with about a quarter cup water and add to the sauce).
