At grill side, roll one ball of dough out into a thin circle. This naan recipe is deceptively easy to make, and baked under the broiler. You can spice it up by adding garlic, or leave it plain.

To begin with this particular recipe, we have to prepare a few ingredients. You can have naan using 7 ingredients and 5 steps. Here is how you can achieve it.

The ingredients needed to make Naan:
  1. Get yeast
  2. Get sugar
  3. Prepare warm water
  4. Get egg
  5. Make ready oil
  6. Prepare maziwa mala
  7. Get flour

Traditionally they are baked inside a very hot clay tandoor oven, with charcoal or wood fire. The naan bread are stuck to the inside of the oven just like the picture below. Using a skewer, gently pry the bread off the tandoor wall, taking care not to scratch the clay. Brush the top of the bread with ghee or melted butter, then place in a cloth-lined basket for serving.

Steps to make Naan:
  1. Mix the water, sugar and yeast. Let it sit for a few minutes. Till bubbly.
  2. Add the egg, oil and maziwa mala. Stir till well combined.
  3. Add the flour to the mixture. One cup at a time. Use a wooden spoon or spatula to mix. Use 5 cups and the remaining 1 cup use to knead the dough. Oil the dough and cover. Let it rest for 1 hour.
  4. Roll it out and cut it out into balls. I use a weighing scale to ensure the even size. Roll it out and make sure the pan is hot.
  5. Use some water/ butter to cook. Melt some butter and add garlic to rub on the bread once ready. Enjoy and serve as desired.

Remove the naan from the skillet, brush with a bit of butter and sprinkle with a little coarse sea salt. Place the naan in a tea towel-lined dish. Repeat with the rest of the naans and serve. Naan is a traditional flat bread from India, while pita bread is eaten in the Mediterranean and Middle East. Pita is made with a very simple dough, using just flour, salt, yeast, and olive oil, while naan dough has ingredients like yogurt and egg that help keep it soft and fluffy.
