Hey everyone, it is Jim, welcome to my recipe page. Today, I’m gonna show you how to make a distinctive dish, chakli(murukku). It is one of my favorites. This time, I will make it a little bit unique. This is gonna smell and look delicious.

Chakli(murukku) is one of the most popular of current trending foods in the world. It’s easy, it is quick, it tastes delicious. It’s appreciated by millions daily. They’re fine and they look wonderful. Chakli(murukku) is something which I have loved my entire life.

Butter murukku recipe - also known as benne murukku, benne chakli or venna murukku. Murukku is a deep fried crisp snack made with rice flour and gram flour. These are eaten through out the year and is most commonly made during festivals.

To get started with this particular recipe, we must first prepare a few components. You can cook chakli(murukku) using 8 ingredients and 6 steps. Here is how you can achieve that.

The ingredients needed to make Chakli(murukku):
  1. Get 250 gms rice flour
  2. Get 100 ml water
  3. Take 1 tsp salt
  4. Prepare 80 grams fried and powdered split and skinned black gram
  5. Prepare 3 tbsp hot oil
  6. Get 1 tsp cumin seeds
  7. Take 1 tsp white sesame seeds
  8. Prepare 1/2 ltr oil for deep frying

Heat oil and deep fry the murukku in batches. Cook both the sides till bubbles stop completely. Remove and drain the excess oil in a tissue paper. Store in a box after the murukku cools down.

Instructions to make Chakli(murukku):
  1. Take slightly fried rice flour and powdered black gram in a bowl
  2. Add salt, cumin seeds, sesame seeds, 3tbsp of hot oil, give, thorough mix to all ingredients
  3. Now add water prepare soft dough..rest it for 5 minutes
  4. Heat oil in a wok to medium flame for deep frying
  5. Now take small portions of dough put it in chakli(murukku) mould press it,giving it a round shape on a plastic sheet
  6. Deep fry them on a medium flame untill they turn to golden brown and crisp

Chakli is also known by other names like Chakri in Gujarati or Murukku in South Indian household. It gets a unique fun texture and shape by using a hand-held chakli maker or a murukku maker. These crunchy treats are made in more than one way. Murukku, a similar dish typically made without the bengal gram, is also sometimes called "chakli". Though I have to admit, the pressing part of the murukku / chakli is a painstaking task & develops (read strains) some serious bicep / shoulder muscles, the end result makes it all worth it.
